Headphones Should Also Perform Like a Musical Instrument
We wanted to reproduce the beautiful natural sounds of a violin, guitar, and piano with headphones. WOOD was an ideal material to use to achieve this but wasn’t an easy material to use when making a headphone diaphragm. Our JVC sound professionals used their experience designing and building wood cone speakers and met the challenge. Our philosophy of “In Quest for the Original Sound” and the unique properties of wood were combined to open a new door to the expressive power of music.
The JVC HA-FW01 utilizes wood inside and out to create premium in-ear headphones that are compatible with High Resolution audio sources. The headphones feature wood dome diaphragms, wood stabilizers, and wood housings, in combination with precious metals and innovative electronics, to achieve better sound quality and to control resonance.
Wood has many positive sound characteristics that make it ideal for making fine musical instruments. JVC has developed a way to create thin, lightweight wooden sheets that are only 50 microns thick (0.05mm or 0.0019 inches) to make the 11mm diameter Wood Dome Diaphragms. The wood diaphragms recreate those natural and delicate sounds to deliver high-res audio with presence and realism. In addition, the wood housing and wood stabilizer on the back of the driver unit suppress vibrations to give you audio purity. The headphones use wood components in combination with different metals, such as stainless steel, brass, and aluminum to produce superb sound quality.
